It’s the time when the Christmas tree looks at its best, when the thrill and charm of Christmas is in the air as well as on Social Media.
But while you sit back and think it’s a much needed vacation time, Christmas, for many companies is their busiest trading period of the year. This means it is time to start implementing relevant social media marketing tactics to win the crowd.
- Keep your business objectives clear:
Firstly, it’s important to have a clear plan to achieve set objectives. Set clear goals, such as increasing revenue by 10% or boosting website visits by 20%, and make sure they are both achievable and measurable. If it’s your first venture into the world of online social media marketing – take things one step at a time and your focus will be clearer.
- Choose the right platform:
Christmas is already at hand, so you really want to be focusing your efforts on a few well-chosen channels rather than trying to reach everyone on every platform. Facebook and Twitter are usually the best places to start, as they have the widest audiences.
Look at what your competitors are doing and what would work best for your audiences. Don’t copy, but emulate, what you know to be a successful company or advertising campaign. Keep in mind – the idea is to stand out from your competitors, rather than giving your customers the same content they’ve already seen before.

If you have limited time or content, retweet news and articles you find interesting in relation to your industry. I’m sure they will do the same for you. This will build up followers ready for when you run future campaigns.
